Foreign-Trade Zone

FTZ Services for Importers & Exporters

Defer, reduce, or eliminate customs duties with Foreign-Trade Zone storage and reporting from Ford Storage.

What is an FTZ?

Duty-deferred storage that improves cash flow.

A Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ) is a secure area under U.S. Customs and Border Protection supervision where imported merchandise can be stored, handled, or processed without entering formal customs territory. That means duties and federal excise taxes can be deferred until the goods leave the zone for domestic consumption — or eliminated entirely if the product is re-exported.

Ford Storage is expanding our bonded and customs-adjacent capabilities to offer FTZ-adjacent storage and reporting services from our Omaha, NE and Kansas City, KS facilities. Our goal is to give importers, distributors, and manufacturers a single partner for duty-efficient warehousing, Container Freight Station (CFS) deconsolidation, and bonded storage.

When FTZ services are fully live, clients can expect streamlined inventory tracking, weekly zone status reporting, and coordination with customs brokers — all backed by the same secure facilities and transportation network that power our warehousing and fulfillment operations.
